“Search me, O God and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” – Psa 139:23-24 (NKJV)
After we have followed God for a while we can be doing so well and really growing in God. We can do loads of stuff with Church, go to stacks of different meetings, and be a part of everything that’s going on. But without realising it, we can develop stuff in our hearts that doesn’t please God, and often its stuff we didn’t even realise that was there. We can do things like grow jealous of someone who’s better at us in a certain thing; we can grow proud, we can get angry so easy.
It’s attitudes like these that can creep up in our hearts that we maybe we aren’t aware of. But in this Bible verse here, the writer is asking God to search their heart to see if there’s any wickedness (stuff that doesn’t please God) in their life that they aren’t aware and ask God to show what it is and help them to deal with it, and lead them into God’s best, ‘the way everlasting’.
Cube Challenge: In your time with God today, ask Him to search your heart and see if there’s stuff that doesn’t please Him that you don’t know about. Ask God to point them out, help you deal with it and move you forward into His plan for your life.
