“The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)
We all know that today is Valentine’s Day. For many of us, today is a day of sending flowers, cards, huge teddy bears and going out for posh meals with our loved one. For most people, today is a day of celebrating the power and importance of romantic love between a man and woman.
However, as important as the love between a man and woman is, it’s also important today that we remember God’s love towards us. God’s love is amazing and goes way beyond human love.
The Bible here tells us that God loves us with an everlasting love; this is a love that’s not short-lived, not selfish, easily hurt or offended, a love that is so amazing, it goes beyond what we could imagine. God loved us so much that He sent His only Son to this world so that we could be free from sin and have life and have it to the full.
