“God is strong. The Lord is loving. You reward people for what they have done.” Psalm 62:11-12 (NCV)
As a kid what did you get when you did well at primary school? Did you get a smiley face on a chart, a merit, a gold star, sweets, or some other kind of treat for doing well? I’m sure all of us remember the different things we used to get as a reward for good behavior at school.
Well, take this idea and look how it fits into our Christians journey. God is in some ways like our old school teacher, He rewards us when we do well and He cheers us on to be the best we can be.
Today’s verse says the Lord is loving. The Bible also says that God is love and that nothing can separate from His love, its unconditional, He’s crazy about us. There is nothing we can do to make God love us less, but there is stuff we can do to really please Him. People who go all out for Jesus are people who really try to please God by how they live. God really rewards people when they do this.
Remember God’s like our old school teacher; there to reward us, to celebrate us, to encourage us when we do things well. When we get to heaven, we will know the full extent of this amazing, everlasting reward. What a reward!
