“Lord, I know that a person’s life doesn’t really belong to him. No one can control his own life.” Jeremiah 10:23 (NCV)
Have you ever played on one of those little, cheap, remote control helicopters? They seem quite fun at first when they are whizzing around the house , flying up and down, but quickly you realise they are pretty wreck-less, so hard to control, they begin knocking things over, causing damage to the house, and often end up, quickly breaking! You soon realize, they are out of control!
It can be like this with sin in our own lives. Sin can start off looking fun to begin with, but actually leads us to live lives out of control. If you chose to live in your own strength, to turn away from God, it always ends in a wreckage. If you keep things back in your heart from God, it always ends in problems.
You can try and control your own life, live how you wanna live, but in the end you’ll be unable to defeat sin, discouragement and depression on your own back, it’s with only a life fully surrendered to God that you can overcome.
God wants total surrender, God made you, He wants you for Himself. Today’s verse says a person’s life doesn’t really belong to him (or her) – God made you for His glory, for His design and purpose. But when you give your life fully over to God it never ends in a wreck, its never easy but always for good.
Cube Challenge: If there are things you are holding back from God in your life, if you put up ‘NO GO’ zones to God, make a decision to give those areas of your life over to God today.
Also, if you’ve never fully given your life to God, why not make a decision to do it today!
