“So be very careful how you live. .. Use every chance you have for doing good because these are evil times.” Ephesians 5:15-16 (NCV)
When was the last time you shouted to someone ‘be careful!’?
The saying be careful, doesn’t really mean to be full-of-care for someone or a situation, but it really means, ‘watch out’!
Today’s verse says you should be very careful how you live. This simply means we should give some thought to how we live, you should ‘watch out’ so you live a life that pleases God.If you’re going to live your life as a burning, on-fire-for-God follower of Christ then you should aim, by God’s help, to live in a certain way.
You need to live carefully, which means you watch out for dangerous living, and that you run from sin and the things that don’t please God. As you read through the Bible you get God’s heart about the things that please Him and the things that don’t. But following God, obeying and living as a radical for Him, doesn’t restrict your life into being boring, religious and not relevant, but actually it means you get to live in true freedom from sin and from the world (which has been pretty polluted ((you only need to turn on the TV or see a news app to get that)).
Cube Challenge: Have a good think today: “how can I be someone who lives carefully today, who doesn’t follow the world, but stands for God?” – ask the Lord to help you do this, it’s only with His power in you, that you can live in freedom from sin and the attitudes of this world.
