“If someone does wrong to you, forgive that person because the Lord forgave you.” Colossians 3: 13 (NCV)
Have you ever heard someone say to you, “come one now, forgive and forget”?
Well, as you probably know that can sometimes be easier said than done. Especially when it comes to something that really hurt you, a cutting word, bullying at school, a betrayal within a friendship or rejection of a family member.
Forgiveness can be so tough sometimes. But forgiveness is absolutely ESSENTIAL.
There is a saying that not forgiving someone is like drinking a bottle of poison while trying to watch someone else die. Think about that for a second; the only person who dies (on the inside) is you, if you don’t forgive people.
But, having said this, forgiveness becomes so much easier to do when you get how much the Lord has forgiven you, as today’s verse says. Well, when you get just how much the Lord has forgiven you and how your sins, mistakes and faults are all completely forgiven by Him, it becomes easier to forgive others.
Cube Challenge: Spend some time today, getting alone with God and really ask Him to show you how much He loves you and has forgiven you of all your sins. When you get this locked and loaded into your heart, it becomes so much easier to forgive others who hurt you.
