“Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross. He did this so that we would stop living for sin and live for what is right.” – 1 Peter 2:24 (ERV)
Have you ever been having a conversation or talking about something, then you hear a piece of important information mid-conversation and think to yourself ‘ah, this changes everything’. Sometimes we can new learn stuff about a person, situation or a particular thing that changes how we think, live, talk about the thing we are discussing at that moment.
It is the same sort of thing today’s verse is saying; it says that because Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross, we now should stop living for sin and live for what is right. This is so huge and so, so significant. When we get what Jesus did for us on the cross and when we respond to that in our hearts, it literally changes the course of our lives. It means that when we receive Christ, making a decision to live all out for Him, He begins to change our desires and wants and puts new ones in us instead.
When we decide to follow Jesus with our whole heart, He will change us on the inside, so that living for sin will loose its appeal and living right becomes so much more attractive. When you get what Jesus did on the cross and how much God loves you will never be the same again, you’ll want to live right and please God through how you live.
Cube Challenge: Set aside time this morning to prayer and seek God – one thing to ask Him is to give you a fresh revelation and understanding of the cross: what Jesus did and what it means for you. It will change you on the inside.
Also, as you do this today – check out this song – it’s awesome!
