Living waters

“If anyone believes in me, rivers of living water will flow out from that person’s heart, as the Scripture says.” – John 7:38 (NCV)

Have you ever seen those nature programmes on TV about beautiful mountain ranges, crystal-clear rivers, lakes and streams?

It is interesting that today’s verse talks about rivers of living water flowing out of your heart.

You might ask, what does it mean by living waters? How can water be alive?

Well, Jesus here uses the illustration of water to describe things that are pure, clean and innocent flowing from your heart. If you think about it, water is an essential ingredient to life on planet earth, without it we couldn’t live. When you are a believer in Jesus, you have the opportunity to show Jesus through how you live; the more you get full of Jesus, the more it flows out from your heart, the more the living water of Christ flows out from you.

If you stay close to Jesus, like the beautiful fast-flowing streams and rivers; Jesus’ life, purity, innocence, cleanness will begin to flow out from your heart to the world around you.

Cube Challenge:  Get alone with God today. Take 30 minutes out to draw close to Him. The more you get close to God, the more living waters flow out from your heart.
