‘Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders.’ – 1 Peter 5:5
Today’s verse talks about being subject; what comes to your mind when you think about being subject?
It doesn’t have anything to do with subjects at school or college. To be subject means simply this, that you do what you’re told and listen to elders. Elders could mean those who are older than you, but this verse is specifically on about leaders in church. Sometimes the advice we get from our leaders at church, at school, at work or the government isn’t the stuff we always like to hear or what we want to do, but if we want to be people who really live for God, it’s so key we get this. We need to be people who listen to what our leaders say, because although they aren’t perfect they are people who God has put a position of authority to speak into our lives. Be open for what God wants to say you through leaders.
Cube Challenge: Spend some time today to thank God for the leaders He’s put in your life. Ask Him to create in you a heart that’s open for God to speak through them into your life.
