Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (NIV)

What do you think about when you think about purpose? You might think ‘why am I here?’ , ‘what’s my purpose in life?’ or even ‘what’s my purpose in God?’ , ‘what does He want me to do with my life?’. We can all go through these various different thoughts at times. The key to discovering what God has for our lives is pressing into Him completely, this simply means to lay aside other distractions and other things we could live for and be determined to live for Him instead.

We might have loads of different things in life that we want to do or to become, but it’s being what God wants that really counts. Today’s verse says this very thing, although there might be many plans in a man’s heart, it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. This simply means that we might have things we want to do with our lives and different dreams for our futures, but be open to what God is saying because as you draw closer to Him and journey with Him He will often change your desires and point you in an amazingly different direction that is completely opposite to what you could have imagined you’d be doing, but you’ll find it is so much better than the plans you had and He’ll give you a supernatural power to accomplish them.

Cube Challenge: Spend some time with Jesus today, talk to Him and share your dreams and future plans to Him, but be sure to give them over to Jesus, because He might have different things for your future, be open to His voice.
