“I am the true vine, and my Father is the
gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while
every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even
more fruitful.” – John 15:1-2
Sometimes in life we encounter situations or people who just push our buttons. I’m sure you know what that means. Jesus instructed us to love everyone – even those people who annoy us at times. However, this scripture shows us something of how God works on us.
The scripture states that God prunes us to make us more fruitful. Pruning is not always an easy process. It is sometimes uncomfortable and even painful. God sometimes uses some of the things we experience to prune our lives to makes us more fruitful. He uses such situations to “knock our rough edges off”, as well as showing us the hard areas of our hearts (the areas in which we aren’t letting God in). What we must learn to do is ask the Lord what we can learn from the situations and ask for His help to show Jesus no matter what the challenge we face.
Cube challenge: Next time you face a difficult situation or person, ask God to help you know how to handle it. Think about how you want to respond and if it is how Jesus would respond. This is how you will become more fruitful and shine the light of Jesus into your world.
