What really matters?

In his heart a man plans his course, but The Lord determines his steps. – Proverbs 16:9

This short verse may appear simple to understand, but it contains a challenge for us to be full surrendered to God, to give our whole lives to His plan for us. Have you ever been asked to lead a project/group at school or college and been really excited to take on the challenge? It’s something that you know you can do really well, an area you are gifted in by God and you know exactly what you want to do. As the project progresses you can see things are going well, but then you are taken off the project and asked do a different or easier task. How do you think you would respond?

God could be using this situation to ask you a question like “would you drop “this” if I asked you and go clean toilets?”. In other words, if God asked you to leave this exciting project or job to do something to humble you, and make sure what you’re doing doesn’t get more important to you than Jesus Himself, would you do it?

Cube challenge: If God asked you to drop your plans at college, uni, marriage, career etc. and go and serve the poor in your community what would you say? Is your love for God and desire to serve him, stronger than your own desire and plan for your life? Think about how you would answer these questions and ask The Lord to bring to the place where all that matters is Him.
