Rubbish in – Rubbish out

rubbish in rubbish out

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy”. Philippians 4:8

An extremely simple principle: if you put trash in your body, you won’t feel great. If you listen to rubbish music with lots of bad words, guess who will use these words in his daily language? Do you feel more aggressive if you watch violent movies?

It is so simple, this what you put into your body through food, music, movies or the people who you hang out, will determine what person you will become. You can’t listen to Eminem and watch all horror movies on the market and expect to have a close relationship to God.

If we read good books, watching encouraging movies, listen to great Christian music, it will make a huge different in your life. Try it and watch the difference, be sure to feed your spirit with good things like we read in today’s verse and watch good stuff flow out from your heart.

Cube Challenge: What rubbish you taking in your life? What do you have to quiet or to change? Think through watch you are watching, listening to and who you are hanging out with, and ask God what He wants you to change so you can draw closer to Him.

The real you

 the real u

That’s the kind of people the father is looking for; those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. John 4: 23

Ever laughed at yourself when you realised that something you have over-complicated for so long was really very simple!

Worship is in fact really simple. It’s about being your ‘true’ self before God, not wearing any masks.

This begs the questions, who is your true self? Your ‘true’ self is the person that nobody sees.

Worshiping God is not just singing songs,  but living a life that points towards Jesus. Singing is a huge part of worshiping God, but it’s much more than that. When we worship God, He wants us to come before him with all the stuff we don’t let people see.

However, God is a good God,  He won’t hit you with a club, he is not a warden or an archaic Headmaster.

He takes all that ‘stuff’ whatever it is and through the Holy Spirit he shows you the ‘truth’ about who you truly are. You are loved, precious, set apart, holy, healthy, wealthy, important, etc. The list goes on, the Holy Spirit of God is also called the Spirit of Truth so you can trust that what he says is always true.

Worship God today, just as you are and you’ll experience the truth of who you are in Him. Getting in His presence brings a clarity and shows you who you really are, be open for Him to speak!

CUBE challenge:  Put 10 of your favorite worship tracks on today and be your ‘true’ self before God. Pour out your heart to God and allow Him to speak the truth of who you are in Christ over you.

Speak Up!!!

speak up

‘Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.’ Proverbs 31:8a

So there is the girl in your class at school or Uni who hasn’t grown into herself yet, a bit anti social and is in desperate need of conditioner!

All the other kids have mean names for her, ‘loner, weirdo, freak’. In this verse, a mother advises her son who in that time was the king of Israel to Speak up for the weak, to use his power for good and not turn away from those who deserved justice.

I guarantee that speaking up will probably land you a spot down the social ladder, but I also guarantee that that girl is suffering and is in need of someone to say, ‘you are beautiful, you are loved’ because she is. God has not given you a spirit that fears but a spirit of courage so speak up!!!

Speak hope and life over those who have been rejected by society and by others, shine your light today!

Cube Challenge: Befriend someone who is a bit lonely in school/college/work/Uni, change the status quo. Ask God to help you, you’d be surprised, others may join in.

 God confidence

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. Hebrews 10:35-36

First off, what is confidence?

Webster’s dictionary defines ‘confidence’ as: a feeling of being certain that something will happen or that something is true.

God wants you Confident about Him, he wants to show you great and amazing things that you could never imagine, and he wants you to become a witness so that you can tell others about his goodness.

But to see His goodness, God wants us to become confident in Him, like from our definition of confidence, God wants us to be certain that something He has promised will happen or to be confident that what He says in the bible is true.

Whatever situation you’re facing right now God wants you to have God-fidence, trusting Him and His promise over life. Whether you’re waiting for your Uni grades to come back, your job application to come through or GCSE results, trust Him, He will never fail you!

CUBE Challenge: Pray for at least 20 minutes today (ask God to give you much ‘God-fidence’, watch your confidence levels increase in Him).

Best Believe

best belive

“For I know the plans I have for you” says the Lord.  “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope”. –  Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

In this scripture the God of the universe who simply thought up the concept of the sun and spoke it into existence, who names all the gazillion stars in the universe. The God who made you and me. The God who made the most famous people in this world, and also those that nobody’s heard of.

This same God who knows you down to every split end on your head or ever chipped nail says, ‘hey, I know you and I have a plan for you,  so big it will blow your mind’. And then this amazing God who is more than able, declares this in His Word for all to see! You best believe that he will come true.

People in our society and even our family and friends can fail us and not come true to their words, but God is not man that he should lie or go back on his word. God loves you so much and won’t fail you, He has great plans that He wants to see them come to pass in your life.

What he said he will come through in your life, he ALWAYS does and you best believe it!

CUBE challenge: Write down 3 things you’re believing God for, but haven’t yet come to pass in your life. Pray in faith for each one (at least 10 minutes each) trust God, and believe that God is working wonders behind the scene until you see your breakthrough come to pass.

Hold light, don’t hold tight

Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.  When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.  Genesis 7-10

Grab your Bible and check out the background to these verses, read from verse 1 to 10.

Picture this guys, here we have Abraham who was promised a son against all the odds he has a son at 100 years old!

Can you picture that, think of your great great grandmother who may be close to that age, that would be like her giving birth! Yet Abraham though he loved his son, loved God more. He demonstrates this by being willing to kill his only son. God is an awesome God he gives us so much blessings, good homes, good families, iPads, iPhones and so much more. But if God came tomorrow and asked you to sacrifice something what would your response be?

CUBE challenge: This week think of something that means a lot to you or is a big priority In your life. Go this week without it (fast) instead  of focusing your time in drawing nearing to Christ.

But each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. (James 1:14 NIV)

Temptation is all around us.

It’s on our TV screens, phones, internet and with our friends.

Sometimes it feels like we can never get away from it as the enemy is roaming the earth, day and night looking for people he can destroy. However, did you know that because you are a follower of Christ, you have the same supernatural power of God living in you that Jesus had when he walked the earth? While it’s not a sin (evil thing) to be tempted, it is to fall into sin and act upon our temptations.

In spite of this, God has given us everything we need to overcome it these temptations. Trust Him for strength!

Cube challenge: Choose one thing that may have been a massive temptation in your life, bring it before God and ask for the strength to not only overcome yourself,  but to overcome it so that you can help others to overcome it.

Feeling blue?

How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?  Psalm 13:2

Ever felt sad? Feeling sad now?

Depression can come against all of us at some point in our lives.

Some simply get depressed from time to time while some may live Depressed. Maybe something didn’t go as planned. There is nothing wrong with these feelings in fact, read through the book of psalms, it’s filled with a man (King David) who faced depression at times. In these seasons, he spent time pouring out his soul before God.

God wants you to know that he loves you and wants the best for you, he wants to comfort you and also show the life of joy he wants you to live in. Pour out your heart to Him, trade up your feelings of being down and receive His joy and life!

Cube challenge: Take whatever is pulling you down before God today and watch as you pour out your hear,  how his love and joy will fill your heart. No situation is too big for our God!

Time to honour!

“Honor your father and mother.”This is the first command that has a promise with it—“Then everything will be well with you, and you will have a long life on the earth.” Ephesians 6:2-3

If we are going to be people who make an impact for God, live all-out, hearts ablaze for Him, it’s so important we get this thing called ‘honour’ right. We don’t use this word for much today, but it simply means to respect and speak well of someone. We need to honour and respect our parents especially, because they brought us into the world.  Our parents also care and look after us.

Be intentional about honour!!

Cube Challenge: Why not have a chat, drop a quick text, call, or tweet your parents today for 3 great things they’ve done in your life?

dont fear

The LORD who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine’. 1 Samuel 17:37

Most of us can think of a time when we’ve been afraid or had to face a situation that scared us. Life comes with a lot of challenges and fear is one of those challenges all of us will face. Maybe it’s an upcoming exam that you’re afraid of failing or taking your first driving lesson that you’re not confident about booking. So how do you overcome fear?

In this verse David was persuading Saul to let him fight Goliath, so he told Saul of the past battles he had faced and how God had helped him through them.  He wasn’t afraid of fighting Goliath, because he knew that if God had rescued him from a lion and a bear then he would rescue him from Goliath.

This verse shows us the value of remembering what God has done for us in the past. David didn’t look at the height or strength of Goliath or compare his own armour to Goliath’s armour; he looked straight to God and at what God had done for him. And in the end he defeated Goliath without any sword or armour because God was with him.

So maybe now you’re afraid of taking A-levels then try remembering how God got you through your GCSE’s instead of focusing on the Goliath, focus on God who is stronger than any situation you are facing.

Cube Challenge:

1.Make a list of things God has done for you and thank him for each one

2. Pray about whatever situation you’re be afraid of, and trust that God will take you through it.
